Fresh Low-Pressure Area Over Bay of Bengal To Intensify Rainfall in Odisha; Orange Alert Issued for Six Districts
Bhubaneswar: A fresh low-pressure system has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal on August 29, triggering widespread rainfall across Odisha.
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Bhubaneswar, has issued an orange warning for six districts — Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, and Jagatsinghpur — forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall.
Additionally, yellow warnings have been issued for 24 districts, cautioning residents about thunderstorms accompanied by lightning.
Rainfall activity is expected to intensify from August 30 and continue for at least four days, affecting districts including Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Jajpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Bargarh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, and Sonepur.
Authorities have urged residents in vulnerable districts to remain alert and take necessary precautions.
The developing system is likely to keep Odisha’s weather unsettled, with widespread rainfall and thunderstorms in the coming days.
