Odisha Suspends Senior OAS Officer Madhusmita Singh Over Disciplinary Action

Bhubaneswar, August 31: The Odisha government has suspended Smt. Madhusmita Singh, a senior Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) officer, is following a pending disciplinary proceeding.

The suspension order, issued by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department on August 30, cites Rule 12 of the Odisha Civil Services (Classification, Control & Appeal) Rules, 1962.

Smt. Singh was serving as Tahasildar of Jamada Tahasil in Mayurbhanj district at the time of suspension. She previously held the post of Executive Officer at Belpahar Municipality in Jharsuguda district.

As per the directive, her headquarters during the suspension will be the Sub-Collector’s Office in Rairangpur. She is prohibited from leaving the designated headquarters without prior approval from the Collector of Mayurbhanj.

The officer will receive subsistence allowance in accordance with Rule 90 of the Odisha Service Code.

While the official order does not specify the nature of the disciplinary action, departmental sources suggest the move may be linked to administrative lapses during her tenure in Jharsuguda.

This development adds to a growing list of administrative reshuffles and disciplinary actions aimed at reinforcing governance standards across Odisha.
