Bhubaneswar, Sept 27 — Odisha celebrated World Tourism Day 2025 with a vibrant showcase of heritage, sustainability, and innovation, aligning with the global theme “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation.” The Department of Tourism orchestrated a series of immersive events across the state, blending cultural pride with eco-conscious messaging.
Visitors arriving at Biju Patnaik International Airport were welcomed with traditional tilak, floral tributes, and thematic displays, setting the tone for a day rooted in Odisha’s famed hospitality.
District-level quizzes, storytelling heritage walks around Bindusagar Lake, and cultural performances brought communities together, even as heavy rains failed to dampen spirits.
A highlight was the Cultural Evening at Rabindra Mandap, featuring dignitaries and the release of Paribrajaka 2025, the Tourism Department’s annual souvenir.
The play “ଆଞ୍ଜଳୁଆଏ ଲୁହ” captivated audiences, while social media influencers amplified the celebrations online, bridging tradition with digital storytelling.
Konark Sun Temple hosted a special cleanliness drive, reinforcing the state’s commitment to responsible tourism.
Odisha’s recent accolades—including Best Spiritual Destination (Puri), Best Tourism Village (Maniabandha), and Best Beach Destination (Blue Flag Beach, Puri)—were celebrated as milestones in its sustainable tourism journey.
Infrastructure upgrades under SASCI, Swadesh Darshan, and PRASHAD schemes, along with Rs 4,364 crore in private investments, signal a robust future.
Safety and inclusivity were prioritised with Rs 25 crore allocated for lifeguards, sanitation, and tourist police across 30 destinations.
Policy reforms like the Adventure Tourism Guidelines 2025 and revised Homestay Policy further position Odisha as a progressive tourism hub.
