Odisha Shivers: Season’s Coldest Morning Hits 4°C
Odisha woke up to its coldest morning of the season as temperatures dipped sharply across the state. The Bhubaneswar Regional Meteorological Centre reported a minimum of 4°C, marking the lowest temperature recorded this winter.
In Kandhamal district, G. Udayagiri registered 4.4°C, while ten other locations, including Semiliguda (6.1°C), Rourkela (7.2°C), Daringbadi (7.5°C), Jharsuguda (7.6°C), and Phulbani (8°C), recorded temperatures below 10°C.
Adding to the chill, a thick blanket of fog covered several regions, severely reducing visibility. Binika in Sonepur district reported severely dense fog along NH-126, raising concerns about road safety.
Commuters noted that the fog often persists until late morning, disrupting daily travel and outdoor routines.
Authorities have urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel during early hours, wear proper winter clothing, and remain cautious while driving.
Locals, meanwhile, are finding warmth at roadside tea stalls and bonfires, sharing stories of numb hands and feet as the cold wave continues.
With the meteorological department forecasting that the cold spell will persist for several more days, Odisha remains on high alert as residents brace for extended winter conditions.
