Odisha sets target to fill 65,000 government posts in two years: CM Majhi

Bhubaneswar, Sep 15 (UNI) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today announced that the state aims to fill 65,000 government posts within the first two years
The government, he said, has filled 30,032 posts in various departments over the past 15 months through 11 organised recruitment drives. By June 2026, an additional 40,000 posts are expected to be filled.
Addressing newly appointed officers at the 11th State Recruitment Drive held at IDCO Exhibition Ground, Bhubaneswar, Majhi said so far 1,07,926 youths have secured employment in both government and private sectors during this period.
The Chief Minister emphasised that the recruitment process is transparent and merit-based, with strict action against any irregularities.
Handing over appointment letters to 1,686 candidates across seven departments, Majhi said government jobs not only provide a secure livelihood but also serve as an important avenue for public service.
He congratulated the appointees and urged them to work with honesty, uphold integrity, and remain above corruption.
Highlighting employment as a major challenge for youth, Majhi advised new appointees to see themselves as public servants committed to the welfare of the common people.
“Every decision you take must be guided by public welfare,” he said.
Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister K.V. Singhdeo stated that the government aims to provide 1.5 lakh jobs in five years, with over 30,000 already delivered.
Health and IT Minister Mukesh Mahaling emphasized that filling vacant posts is a key government commitment to strengthen public services, particularly in healthcare.
The event was also attended by Law, Excise & Works Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, Fisheries & ARD Minister Gokulananda Mallik, Skill Development Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, and Development Commissioner Anu Garg, among others.
