Odisha Secures ₹732 Crore Railway Infrastructure Boost with Two Multi‑Tracking Projects

Odisha’s railway network is set for a major upgrade with the inauguration of two multi‑tracking projects worth Rs 732 crore under East Coast Railway.

The projects, launched at Rairangpur in the presence of the President of India and the Prime Minister, aim to ease congestion, improve punctuality, and enhance freight and passenger movement across the state.

The Jakhapura–Jajpur Keonjhar Road–Baitarani Road section (19 km, Rs 323 crore) forms part of the Bhadrak–Nergundi multi- tracking initiative.

It strengthens the busy Howrah–Chennai main line, ensuring faster coal and bulk commodity transport to ports and industries while improving passenger train services.

The Hindol Road–Meramandali section (27 km, Rs 409 crore) is part of the Budhapank–Salegaon multi-tracking project.

It eliminates bottlenecks, boosts train handling capacity, and facilitates smooth movement of coal, steel, and industrial goods vital for Odisha’s power and manufacturing sectors.

Together, these projects mark a significant step toward modern, efficient, and future‑ready railway infrastructure, aligning with the vision of “Viksit Odisha” and “Viksit Bharat.”
