Odisha Safe: No Flood Threat as Rivers Stabilise

The Odisha Water Resources Department has reassured citizens that there is no major flood threat across the state’s river basins.

Continuous monitoring shows stable or receding water levels in key reservoirs and rivers.

In the Mahanadi basin, Hirakud Reservoir stands at 629.65 ft with 26 sluice gates open, balancing inflow and outflow at 4.62 lakh cusecs.

Downstream stations such as Patharla, Khairamal, Barmul, and Mundali report steady or decreasing levels.

Other basins, including Subarnarekha, Baitarani, Salandi, Budhabalanga, Jalaka, and Brahmani, remain below warning and danger thresholds.

While Rengali Reservoir is slightly above live storage capacity, outflow is being managed effectively.

Southern basins like Indravati, Kolab, Balimela, Vamsadhara, and Rushikulya show minor rises but pose no flood risk.

Authorities confirm that all distribution channels of the Mahanadi are safe.

Officials emphasise that round‑the‑clock monitoring continues, ensuring public safety and preparedness.
