Odisha Records Over 11,000 Child Missing Cases Since 2024; 8,562 Rescued
During the ongoing Odisha Assembly session, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida revealed alarming figures on child missing cases across the state.
Since 2024, a total of 11,337 children have been reported missing, of which 8,562 have been successfully rescued. However, 2,975 children remain untraced, raising concerns about child safety and trafficking risks.
Parida highlighted the crucial role of District Child Protection Units (DCPUs) in tracking and recovering missing children.
She noted that Khordha district reported the highest number of cases at 785, with 576 rescues, while Balasore registered 683 cases but managed to recover only 114 children.
The Deputy CM assured the Assembly that the government is strengthening child protection mechanisms, improving inter‑agency coordination, and ensuring timely interventions.
She also stressed the importance of community awareness and vigilance to prevent child trafficking and disappearance.
This disclosure has sparked renewed focus on coordinated rescue efforts and the urgent need for stronger grassroots vigilance to safeguard Odisha’s children.
