Odisha Records 7.9% Growth, ₹20 Lakh Crore Investment in 20 Months: CM Majhi at Vikash Manthan 1.0
Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi highlighted Odisha’s robust economic performance at Vikash Manthan 1.0: Governance in Action, noting that the state achieved 7.9% growth, surpassing the national average, and attracted Rs 20 lakh crore in capital investment over the past 20 months.
Majhi announced that 109 major projects worth Rs 2.40 lakh crore have been launched, creating 1.76 lakh direct jobs.
The state budget is projected to cross Rs 3 lakh crore for the first time, with infrastructure outlay pegged at Rs 72,100 crore (6.5% of GSDP).
Odisha also maintains the lowest debt-to-GSDP ratio among major states at 13.6%.
Key initiatives include the Subhadra Yojana, empowering over 1 crore women, with 17 lakh becoming “Lakhpati Didis.” Farmers benefited from record procurement of 92.63 lakh MT of paddy at Rs 3,100/quintal, releasing Rs 28,715 crore directly to accounts.
Education reforms saw 45,000 Shishu Batikas opened and 20,000+ teacher posts filled, while health allocation for 2026–27 stands at Rs 23,182 crore, covering 1.03 crore families under Ayushman Bharat–Gopabandhu Jana Arogya Yojana.
Looking ahead, the Bhubaneswar–Cuttack–Puri–Paradeep Economic Region (BCPPER) is envisioned as a $500 billion economy by 2047.
Cultural initiatives include a corpus fund for Shree Jagannath Temple, global promotion of the Balijatra festival, and an inventory of Ratna Bhandar ornaments after 48 years.
The event at Lok Seva Bhawan Convention Centre brought together 500+ policymakers, officers, and experts, underscoring Odisha’s governance reforms and inclusive development agenda.
