Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to strengthen rural security, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced an increase in the monthly allowance of Grama Rakshis from Rs 1,800 to Rs 2,500.
Grama Rakshis, who serve as vital community volunteers assisting police in maintaining law and order in villages, will now also be required to report once a week to their respective police stations.
This measure aims to enhance accountability and coordination between local law enforcement and grassroots security personnel.
The decision is expected to boost morale among Grama Rakshis, acknowledging their contribution to crime detection and peacekeeping in rural areas.
The state government’s initiative reflects its commitment to empowering community-level policing and ensuring safer villages across Odisha.
