
Odisha police busts major drug racket, 6 arrested
Bhubaneshwar, Oct 11 (UNI) Police in Odisha’s Bargarh district have busted a major drug trafficking racket with the arrest of six drug peddlers, officials confirmed today.
Acting on a tip-off, a special squad successfully seized a large quantity of psychotropic substances and the traffickers. The vehicles used for drug peddling were also seized during the operation.
Police recovered as many as 2,598 vials of Pentazocine Lactate Injection from the possession of the arrested individuals. Pentazocine is a controlled psychotropic substance under the NDPS Act.
The Superintendent of Police, Bargarh, Prahlad Sahai Meena, said the investigation is ongoing to identify the source, supply chain, and possible links to larger interstate networks.
Bargarh Police appealed to the public to cooperate in curbing the illegal drug trade, assuring that any information shared confidentially with the nearest police station would protect the identity of informants.
