Jeypore, (OT Webdesk) — In a disturbing case of cyber harassment and assault, two individuals have been arrested for allegedly leaking intimate photographs of a B.Sc. Nursing student, leading to her suicide attempt.
The victim, who resided in a hostel in Jeypore, consumed poison on July 17 after private images were widely circulated on social media. She remains in critical condition with severe damage to vital organs.
The accused have been identified as Uddharba Gadanayak, the victim’s former boyfriend, and Satyajit Sarkar, who allegedly distributed the images. Uddharba was arrested in Jeypore, while Satyajit was tracked and detained from a moving bus in Daspalla, Nayagarh district.
The incident reportedly began on July 13, when Satyajit assaulted the victim publicly. Though initially settled informally, the victim filed a formal complaint on July 15.
The photos surfaced soon after, allegedly shared by Uddharba and posted by Satyajit.
Following a fresh complaint by the victim’s grandfather on July 23, police intensified the investigation. A special team from Nabarangpur Police conducted coordinated raids across districts, leading to the arrests.
Both accused have been booked under relevant sections of the IPC and the Information Technology Act. The investigation is ongoing.
