Odisha Leads Nation in Preventive Healthcare with 52,942 Camps in Just 7 Days

In a sweeping public health mobilisation, Odisha has emerged as a national leader in the Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17, 2025.

Within just one week, the state organised an unprecedented 52,942 health camps, reaching over 28.46 lakh beneficiaries across districts.

The campaign, inaugurated in Odisha by the Governor and Chief Minister at Bhubaneswar’s IDCO Exhibition Ground, focuses on early detection of non-communicable diseases, maternal and adolescent health, and community wellness.

Daily facility-level camps—over 8,000—have driven mass participation and access.

Key screenings included:

  • Hypertension: 1.45 lakh individuals
  • Diabetes: 1.42 lakh
  • Oral cancer: 57,000
  • Breast cancer: 59,000
  • Cervical cancer: 28,000
  • Anaemia: 1.27 lakh
  • Tuberculosis: 1.21 lakh
  • Sickle cell anaemia: 1.71 lakh

Maternal and child health services reached 2.18 lakh beneficiaries, while menstrual hygiene counselling impacted 2.93 lakh adolescent girls. Nutrition sessions benefited 2.53 lakh participants.

Community engagement was further amplified through 263 blood donation camps, collecting 17,863 units. Parliamentarians joined specialist camps to encourage participation and amplify outreach.

Odisha’s proactive execution reflects the campaign’s ethos: “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar”—healthy women, strong families.

By prioritising preventive care, the state is laying the foundation for long-term wellness and societal empowerment.
