Odisha Launches Special Three-Day Drive to Enroll Missing and First-Time Voters
Bhubaneswar: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Odisha, has launched a special three-day voter enrollment campaign aimed at ensuring that all eligible citizens are included in the electoral rolls ahead of the upcoming electoral revision process.
The initiative began on October 7 and will continue until October 9.
The special drive seeks to re-enrol eligible voters whose names may have been omitted during the recent Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise and to register newly eligible young voters across the state.
Under the campaign, citizens who have attained the age of 18 years and are eligible to vote can submit Form-6 through their respective Booth Level Officers (BLOs) for inclusion in the electoral rolls.
As part of the initiative, BLOs have been directed to conduct extensive door-to-door verification and outreach activities to identify unregistered voters, assist applicants with documentation, and facilitate the enrollment process.
Election officials stated that all applications received during the drive will undergo verification by Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the voter database.
The campaign has witnessed encouraging participation from first-time voters, while booth-level representatives of various political parties are also supporting awareness efforts at the grassroots level.
The CEO’s office has urged residents to verify their names on the voter list and immediately contact their BLOs if they are missing from the electoral rolls or have recently become eligible to vote.
Officials emphasised that the special drive provides a crucial opportunity to ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the democratic process.
