Odisha Launches Mission Mode Nutrition Drive Across 18 Districts

The Odisha government has rolled out the Mukhyamantri Sampurna Pushti Yojana under the Odisha Poshan Mission (OPM), aiming to eliminate malnutrition and strengthen maternal and child health services.

The initiative will cover 18 high-burden districts, including Angul, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Koraput, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, and Rayagada, reaching over 23,000 Anganwadi centres.

Special focus will be placed on tribal and Maoist-affected regions.

The mission is structured around nine strategic pillars: early identification, assistance, education, nutrition promotion, food supply, awareness, analysis, evaluation, and improvement.

A digital Poshan Tracker will monitor real-time nutrition data, geo-tagged visits, and live dashboards, ensuring transparency and accountability.

Priority groups include pregnant and lactating mothers, adolescent girls, low-birth-weight newborns, and severely malnourished children, with emphasis on the first 1,000 days of life.

The state has earmarked Rs 360.68 crore for 2026–27 and 2027–28 to fund food supply, micronutrient correction, awareness campaigns, monitoring, and quality testing.

Additionally, the Samruddha Anganwadi Yojana will upgrade unfinished centres, construct new ones near habitations, and later add boundary walls for safety.
