Odisha Launches Financial Inclusion Drive Across All Gram Panchayats

(OT webdesk)In an ambitious bid to deepen grassroots banking access, Odisha has rolled out a three-month financial inclusion campaign spanning all 6,794 Gram Panchayats.

Spearheaded jointly by SLBC Odisha (convened by UCO Bank) and PIB Bhubaneswar, the initiative aligns with a national saturation push under the Department of Financial Services.

The campaign, running from July 1 to September 30, aims to:

  • Open Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) accounts
  • Enrol beneficiaries into PMJJBY, PMSBY, and Atal Pension Yojana (APY)
  • Revive dormant accounts and update nominations
  • Raise awareness on digital fraud and grievance redressal

As of July 21, notable progress was recorded across 621 Gram Panchayats, with 6,742 PMJDY accounts opened, 8,779 PMJJBY enrollments, 14,045 PMSBY enrollments, and 2,938 APY subscriptions.

Insurance payouts under PMJJBY and PMSBY reached Rs 456.30 crore and Rs 95.95 crore respectively.

Senior officials from RBI, NABARD, and the state government have lent institutional weight to the campaign, underscoring Odisha’s commitment to equitable financial access.
