Odisha Launches ‘Ama Rasta’ WhatsApp Chatbot for Instant Accident Reporting

Bhubaneswar: In a major step towards improving road safety and emergency response, the Odisha State Transport Authority (STA) is set to launch ‘Ama Rasta’, a dedicated WhatsApp chatbot that will enable citizens to report road accidents instantly.

The initiative aims to ensure faster communication between the public and emergency response agencies.

Under the new system, citizens can report road accidents by sending a message through WhatsApp to 72899 11033.

Once a report is received, the chatbot will automatically notify the nearest Regional Transport Office (RTO), police personnel, master trainers, rescuers and junior rescuers for prompt action.

Officials believe the technology-driven platform will help reduce response time during emergencies by ensuring accident information reaches the concerned authorities without delay.

The system is expected to enhance coordination among various agencies involved in rescue and relief operations.

The launch of ‘Ama Rasta’ reflects the state’s efforts to leverage digital solutions for safer roads and more efficient emergency management.

By making accident reporting simple and accessible through a widely used messaging platform, the initiative seeks to encourage greater public participation in road safety efforts.

The WhatsApp chatbot is expected to serve as a crucial link between accident victims, bystanders and emergency responders, helping authorities provide timely assistance and potentially save lives.
