Odisha H&UD Minister Flags Poor Food Quality at Sunabeda Aahar Kendra
Koraput: In a decisive move to uphold the integrity of government welfare schemes, Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) Minister Dr Krushna Chandra Mohapatra conducted a surprise inspection of the Aahar Kendra in Sunabeda Municipality on Thursday.
The Aahar scheme, designed to provide subsidised meals to the urban poor, came under sharp scrutiny as the Minister personally tasted the food served at the centre.
Expressing strong dissatisfaction, Dr Mohapatra noted that the meal was watery, lacking vegetables and dal, and failed to meet basic nutritional standards.
“This situation is unacceptable,” he declared, issuing what he termed the first and last warning to the authorities responsible.
He directed immediate improvements in food quality, freshness, and nutritional value, warning that failure to comply would invite strict action, including cancellation of responsibilities.
The inspection was accompanied by Koraput MLA Shri Raghuram Machha, the District Collector, Superintendent of Police, and the Executive Officer of Sunabeda Municipality.
As part of his district tour, Dr Mohapatra also reviewed ongoing development works, visited a winter shelter facility, and interacted with residents to assess amenities provided to vulnerable sections.
He emphasised transparency, accountability, and effective execution of government schemes, underscoring the importance of delivering quality services to the people
