Odisha Hosts Workshop on Blue and Green Economy to Drive Climate Resilience

Bhubaneswar: The Government of Odisha, through its State SDG Cell under the Planning and Convergence Department, organised a two‑day workshop titled “Leveraging Blue and Green Economy for a Resilient Future” on January 29–30, 2026.

The event brought together policymakers, national think tank experts, academia, UN agencies, civil society, and private sector leaders to explore strategies for sustainable growth.

Discussions centred on integrating blue economy initiatives—focused on coastal and marine resources—with green economy principles such as climate‑smart agriculture, water security, and responsible consumption.

Development Commissioner Deoranjan Kumar Singh emphasised Odisha’s commitment to aligning with the Viksit Odisha @2036 vision, while UNDP India’s Dr Ashish Chaturvedi highlighted the importance of innovation and inclusive approaches.

Technical sessions covered sustainable growth, climate‑smart agriculture, and green value chains, reinforcing Odisha’s SDG framework.

The workshop also featured the release of “Aspirational, Sustainable Snippets of Success from the Heartland – Vol‑2” and an SDG‑focused audio‑visual film.

The initiative is expected to strengthen Odisha’s roadmap toward a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable future.
