Odisha Hosts 2nd National Mediation Conference, CJI Gavai to Inaugurate

Bhubaneswar, Sept 26: Odisha is set to take centre stage in India’s legal reform movement as it hosts the 2nd National Mediation Conference at Loka Seva Bhawan on September 27–28.

The event will be inaugurated by Chief Justice of India, Justice B.R. Gavai, and will feature a distinguished lineup of legal and political dignitaries, including Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Justice Surya Kant, Attorney General R. Venkataramani, and Solicitor General Tushar Mehta.

Organised by the Office of the Advocate General and the Odisha Law Department, the conference aims to promote mediation as a fast, effective, and harmonious method of dispute resolution.

Advocate General Pitambar Acharya emphasised Odisha’s pioneering role in implementing the Mediation Act, 2023, calling the event a “landmark occasion” aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of accessible justice.

The first edition of the conference was held in May 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, in the presence of the President of India. Odisha’s hosting of the second edition reinforces its commitment to people-centric justice and legal innovation.
