Odisha Govt to implement Angikaar 2025 campaign to fast-track PMAY-U housing projects
Bhubaneswar, Sep 16 (UNI) The Odisha Government has initiated steps to implement the Angikaar–2025 campaign under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Urban (PMAY-U 2.0), which is being observed nationwide until October 31, 2025.
Principal Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Usha Padhee, has directed all District Collectors to organise district-level anchor events and ward-level outreach programmes to ensure
the campaign’s success.
As part of the initiative, PMAY-U Awas Diwas will be celebrated on September 17, 2025. On the same occasion, PM Awas Mela – Shehri (Phase–I) will be held at the district level to mark the first anniversary of PMAY-U 2.0.
Between September 17 and October 16, multiple ward-level camps will be organised across all ULBs to spread awareness and facilitate beneficiary enrolment.
A second anchor event, PM Awas Mela – Shehri (Phase–II), will be conducted at the district level
on a suitable date between October 16 and October 31, 2025.
In her letter, Padhee emphasised that the campaign’s objective is to accelerate completion of under-construction houses under PMAY-U, facilitate housing loans through banks, create awareness on the Interest Subsidy Scheme (ISS), and integrate other schemes such as PM Surya Ghar, PM SVANidhi, and Ayushman Bharat.
District Collectors have been instructed to form District-Level Coordination Committees to oversee the campaign and to explore dovetailing of IEC funds from related schemes.
Further, the H&UD Department has stressed aligning Angikaar–2025 with ongoing initiatives like Sahajog (saturation-based doorstep delivery of schemes for the urban poor) and PM SVANidhi (welfare and micro-finance support for street vendors) for maximum impact, according to Subhananda Mohapatra, Director, Odisha Urban Housing Mission.
