Odisha Govt Sanctions ₹8.48 Cr Rehabilitation Aid for Gajapati Families

The Odisha government has approved a revised rehabilitation package worth Rs 8.48 crore for 78 displaced families affected by the Chheligada Irrigation Project in Gajapati district.

The families from Suguba, Tiligaon, Chadiapada, Kakili, and Bidyadharapur villages will benefit under the 9th Biennial Revision of the Odisha Rehabilitation & Resettlement Policy, 2006.

Officials confirmed that funds will be released only after the complete relocation of the families. Payments will be made through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to ensure transparency.

Verification of documents and public display of beneficiary lists are mandatory, with strict action planned against fraudulent claims.

The expenditure will be met entirely from the 2026–27 state budget.

The move is expected to provide financial security and dignity to displaced families while supporting irrigation and agricultural growth in the region.
