Odisha Govt Sanctions Rs 1 Cr for Lord Baladevjew Rath Construction in Kendrapara
The Odisha government has approved a special grant of Rs 1 crore for the construction of a new Brahma Taladhwaja Rath of Lord Baladevjew in Kendrapara district.
The decision comes in response to repeated disruptions during the annual Rathyatra, where the existing chariot’s 14 wheels often suffered damage, delaying rituals and inconveniencing devotees.
The Law Department has issued independent guidelines to ensure the new chariot’s construction adheres to tradition while improving durability.
Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan emphasised that the initiative reflects the state’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage and safeguarding the sanctity of the festival.
The move is expected to benefit devotees, pilgrims, and local residents by ensuring smoother conduct of the Rathyatra and Bahuda Yatra.
