Odisha Govt Caps Apartment Stamp Duty at ₹50K, Introduces Uniform 5% Rate
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has announced a landmark reform in the housing sector by capping stamp duty on common areas of apartment complexes at Rs 50,000.
Alongside this, a uniform 5% stamp duty rate has been introduced for apartment units, replacing the earlier varied rates.
Officials stated that the amendment, linked to the Odisha Apartment Act 2023 and changes in the Odisha Stamp Act, aims to simplify apartment registration procedures while easing financial burdens on homebuyers.
This move is expected to benefit thousands of apartment owners and housing associations across the state, ensuring transparency and affordability in property transactions.
The reform is being hailed as a step toward boosting housing accessibility and strengthening Odisha’s real estate sector.
