
Odisha Governor Urges Timely Welfare Delivery, Calls for More Gram Panchayats
Bhubaneswar, August 12(OT Webdesk) — Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati has called for swift and efficient delivery of welfare schemes to eligible beneficiaries across the state.
During a high-level review of the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department at Raj Bhavan, the Governor emphasized the need for timely project completion, quality construction, and long-term sustainability.
A key focus of the meeting was the Jal Jeevan Mission, aimed at providing household piped water connections in rural areas.
Dr. Kambhampati reiterated that access to clean drinking water is a fundamental right and aligned the mission with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for inclusive development.
To strengthen grassroots governance, the Governor urged officials to explore increasing the number of Gram Panchayats, promoting decentralisation and people-centric administration.
He highlighted the transformative potential of Panchayati Raj institutions in improving rural livelihoods and infrastructure.
The meeting was attended by Minister Rabi Narayan Naik and senior officials, including S.N. Girish, Roopa Roshan Sahu, and others.
A comprehensive presentation covered schemes such as Antyodaya Gruha Yojana, MGNREGS, PM-Janman, solar projects, and capacity building initiatives.
Dr. Kambhampati’s recommendations aim to foster a more inclusive and responsive governance model, ensuring that development reaches every corner of Odisha.
