Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today), May 31: Over 36,000 police personnel have been deployed to ensure security during the final phase of elections in Odisha, with sensitive booths receiving coverage from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF). A total of 126 CAPF companies will be stationed for this purpose.
Police DG Arun Sarangi disclosed this information during a press briefing held on Friday afternoon.
Additionally, 255 flying squads and 843 mobile squads will be in operation. Assuring readiness, Sarangi emphasized that law and order would be maintained, with a two-tier security system in place for Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
The Chief Election Officer stated that the last phase of voting in Odisha boasts the highest number of voters, with the fate of 460 candidates at stake. Scheduled for June 1, Saturday, this phase anticipates more than one crore voters to cast their ballots, with men constituting 55.88 lakh and women 48.72 lakh out of the total 99.61 lakh voters.
Polling for the final phase will run from 7 am to 6 pm across 10,882 established polling stations. Moreover, over 1400 Sakhi (pink) booths have been designated specifically for women, while 20 percent of the booths have been marked as ideal booths, as per reports.
