Odisha DGP stresses tight Security measures for Puja Season

Bhubaneswar, Aug 22 (UNI) Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Y B Khurania today emphasized extensive security arrangements across the state during the upcoming Puja festival season.
Chairing a review meeting at the State Police Headquarters in Cuttack, the DGP directed officials to keep a strict watch on rumors and misleading information circulating on social media. He instructed district cyber cells to ensure round-the-clock monitoring of online platforms.

In view of the festival season, Khurania issued strict orders to all district Superintendents of Police (SPs) to completely stop the collection of donations and to take stern action against violators.
He further stressed that this directive must be implemented effectively at the grassroots level.

“The safety and security of the people during the Puja season is our top priority, and appropriate measures must be taken to ensure it,” the DGP said.
He called for immediate and coordinated action, with advance intelligence-gathering to prevent any untoward incidents.

The DGP also instructed district SPs and senior officers to strengthen police patrolling, conduct strict checking, act against habitual offenders, install CCTV cameras in sensitive city areas, and maintain close coordination with Puja committees, community groups, and local representatives.

He further ordered strict action against illegal cow trafficking and the unlawful sale of arrows during the festival period.

The meeting was attended by DGP (Crime) Binaytosh Mishra, ADG (Modernization) Saumendra Priyadarshi, ADG (Law and Order) Sanjay Kumar, ADG (HRPC) Yatindra Koyal, along with Range IGs, DIGs, and all district SPs.
