Odisha Courts Receive Bomb Threat Emails; Naveen Patnaik Calls for Swift Action

Odisha’s judicial system was jolted on Wednesday after district courts in Sambalpur, Cuttack, and Deogarh received bomb threat emails, triggering widespread concern across the state.

Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik expressed deep concern over the incident, stressing that the safety of judges, lawyers, litigants, court staff, and the general public must remain the highest priority.

He urged senior officials to conduct immediate and thorough investigations, identify the source of the emails, and bring the findings before the public without delay.

Patnaik also appealed to citizens to remain calm, avoid spreading rumours, and extend full cooperation to security agencies. “Public trust in the judicial system depends on swift and transparent action,” he said.

Police and security agencies have already launched investigations, reviewing CCTV footage, scanning digital trails, and deploying additional personnel to ensure safety in court premises.

The threats have sparked heightened vigilance across Odisha, with authorities assuring that every precaution is being taken to safeguard judicial institutions.
