Odisha Cooperative Dept Suspends Sonapur ARCS Official Over Corruption Allegations

In a firm demonstration of its zero-tolerance stance on corruption, the Odisha Cooperative Department has suspended Panu Charan Sahu, Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies (ARCS) for Sonapur Mandal, following allegations of financial irregularities.

The suspension order, issued on September 25, 2025, underscores the department’s commitment to rooting out malpractice within its ranks.

Sahu, who also served as the Cooperative Societies Group Secretary for Sonapur, has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect.

As part of the disciplinary action, his headquarters have been shifted to the Sub-Registrar’s office in Bargarh.

He has been instructed not to leave the premises without prior approval, ensuring strict compliance during the investigation period.

While the specific nature of the financial mismanagement remains under departmental scrutiny, the move signals a broader crackdown on corruption within Odisha’s cooperative framework.
