Odisha CM Urges Wet and Dry Waste Segregation During Bhubaneswar Cleanliness Drive

Bhubaneswar, Sept 25: In a spirited push for cleaner cities and sustainable waste management, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi joined a mass cleanliness drive near Lingaraj Temple, urging citizens to separate wet and dry waste at the household level.

The campaign, organized by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) under the slogan “ଏକ ଦିନ, ଏକ ଘଣ୍ଟା, ଏକାସାଥିରେ”, saw hundreds of sanitation workers rally together for a cleaner Bhubaneswar.

The CM personally swept the temple pond area and planted trees, reinforcing the message of civic responsibility.

To encourage proper waste segregation, the government has introduced a token-based recognition system:

  • Green Tokens for households consistently separating waste correctly.
  • Red Tokens for those needing improvement.

“Swachh Sathi” volunteers are conducting door-to-door awareness drives, educating residents and monitoring compliance. Urban Development Minister Krushnachandra Mahapatra and Mayor Sulochana Das also participated in the event, lending support to the initiative.
