Odisha Charts Bold Path in Energy Transition with Tony Blair Institute Collaboration

Bhubaneswar: The Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI) has engaged in a high‑level meeting with Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, to accelerate the state’s energy transition.

The TBI delegation, led by Vivek Agrawal (Country Director, India), included Gareth Walsh (Global Director for Energy & Climate), Pierre Noel (Senior Advisor for Asia, Energy), and Amar Jyoti Mahapatra (Strategic Communications Adviser).

Discussions centred on aligning with Odisha’s Vision 2036 and 2047, scaling renewable energy, enhancing grid reliability, and integrating emerging technologies such as nuclear energy and green hydrogen.

The Deputy CM emphasized Odisha’s commitment to cleaner energy adoption and uninterrupted power supply, positioning the state as a leader in India’s energy transition.

Odisha’s progressive policies—including its Pumped Storage Policy, Renewable Energy Policy, and green hydrogen initiatives—were highlighted as key enablers.

TBI reaffirmed its partnership with the Energy Department to develop a comprehensive energy strategy.

The meeting concluded with a symbolic gesture: the Deputy CM presented a book on the Men’s One‑Day Cricket World Cup to the TBI team, underscoring the spirit of collaboration.

This engagement builds on Odisha’s ongoing partnership with TBI, including the Global Energy Leaders’ Summit and reforms for sustainable energy solutions.
