Odisha Cabinet Charts Legislative Strategy, Unveils Grand Plans for PM Modi’s 75th Birthday

Bhubaneswar, Sept 17 — In a high-stakes Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the Odisha government laid out its roadmap for the upcoming Legislative Assembly session while finalising plans to celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday.

Held at the CM’s official residence, the meeting focused on countering a potential no-confidence motion from opposition parties and ensuring smooth proceedings in the Assembly.

The government aims to avoid disruptions like those in the previous session, which saw Congress MLAs suspended amid heated exchanges.

Opposition parties, including the BJD and Congress, have accused the Speaker of bias and criticised the ruling party’s conduct. In response, the Cabinet emphasised maintaining decorum and legislative discipline.

Beyond politics, the meeting spotlighted two major initiatives to mark PM Modi’s birthday: a statewide plantation drive targeting 75 lakh saplings and the launch of the “Healthy Women, Empowered Family” campaign.

These programs aim to promote environmental sustainability and women’s health across Odisha.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling reiterated the government’s commitment to the people of Odisha, stating, “The eyes of the state are on the upcoming Assembly session.

We aim to make significant decisions while effectively addressing opposition challenges.”

Several ministers attended in person, while others joined via video conferencing, reflecting a unified front in both legislative and celebratory efforts.
