Nimapara NAC Amin Arrested in Rs 30K Bribery Case
Puri, Vigilance officials today apprehended Bijay Kumar Grahacharya, an Amin at Nimapara Notified Area Council (NAC), while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 17,000—the final instalment of a Rs 30,000 demand for approving a building plan.
The case dates back to March 2025, when an applicant submitted a request to construct a house. Despite repeated follow-ups, Grahacharya allegedly delayed the file and demanded Rs 33,000 to process it.
After negotiations, the amount was reduced to Rs 30,000. He had already collected Rs 3,000 and Rs 10,000 in earlier instalments.
Frustrated, the applicant approached Odisha Vigilance, which set up a trap. On November 29, 2025, Grahacharya accepted the remaining Rs 17,000 outside the NAC office.
Upon spotting the Vigilance team, he attempted to discard the money on a scooter footrest, but the officers recovered the entire tainted amount.
A case has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act at Bhubaneswar Vigilance Police Station.
Simultaneous searches are underway at two of Grahacharya’s properties to investigate disproportionate assets. The probe is ongoing, with a detailed report expected soon.
