Naveen Patnaik Discharged from Hospital After Successful Arthritis Treatment

Mumbai/Bhubaneswar, July 7(OT Webdesk) – Former Odisha Chief Minister and current Leader of Opposition, Naveen Patnaik, was discharged from Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai following successful treatment for cervical arthritis.

Patnaik, aged 78, was under the care of eminent cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Ramakant Panda. After days of specialised treatment and recovery, he was seen standing upright and smiling, surrounded by his medical team and close supporters — a reassuring image for his constituents and party colleagues.

Cervical arthritis, a degenerative condition common among older adults, affects nearly 85% of individuals above 60, according to a 2023 study published in the Journal of Orthopaedic Research.

Experts believe timely intervention and consistent medical oversight are vital for mobility and quality of life in such cases.

Patnaik’s discharge puts to rest speculation over his health, reaffirming his readiness to actively lead the Opposition ahead of the upcoming legislative sessions.

Political observers believe his recovery may energise BJD cadres and recalibrate the state’s political equation.
