Bhubaneswar/Mayurbhanj: President Droupadi Murmu’s recent visit to her hometown, Mayurbhanj, marked a historic moment for the district, as she inaugurated and laid foundation stones for a series of transformative projects spanning education, healthcare, agriculture, IT, sports, and women’s empowerment.

Among the key initiatives were the establishment of an Ayurvedic College and Hospital, a new OUAT campus, an IT hub at MSCB University, and an Archery Academy to nurture tribal talent.

These projects aim to strengthen higher education, skill development, and healthcare infrastructure while creating new opportunities for youth and women.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi described the projects as “investments in human capital,” assuring that the state government will provide full support and funding for Mayurbhanj’s holistic growth.

He emphasised collaboration between the Centre and the state to ensure inclusive development.

The Union Budget’s focus on women’s empowerment was highlighted through the announcement of ‘She-Marts,’ enabling self-help groups to market their products globally.

Odisha already leads with 17 lakh empowered women, and the new initiatives are expected to further boost employment and entrepreneurship.

Additionally, Rs 50 crore has been earmarked for Similipal biodiversity conservation, while a Rs 100 crore DPR has been prepared for the beautification of Maa Kichakeswari Temple.

CSR projects worth Rs 4 crore were also announced, reinforcing industrial participation in regional development.
