Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today) Jan 29 : Dr. Sarthak Patnaik, Senior Consultant, Arthroscopic and Sports Surgeon at Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswar, and Founder of Sports Science India (SSI), has been appointed as the Chief Medical Officer and Sports Medicine expert for the Indian Ice Hockey Team for the 2025 Asian Winter Games. The 9th edition of the Asian Winter Games, officially known as the Harbin 2025, will be held from February 7 to 14, 2025, in Harbin, Heilongjiang, China.
Dr. Patnaik’s extensive experience in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery makes him an ideal fit for this prestigious role. As a specialist in joint preservation surgeries, he brings over 14 years of expertise in treating athletes and players at all levels. He has already made significant contributions to the field of sports medicine, both in India and internationally.

Dr. Patnaik’s career has been marked by a series of firsts. He was the first surgeon to perform hip arthroscopy in Eastern India and played a pivotal role in organizing the first-ever Sports Science Conclave in Eastern India at Kalinga Stadium. His clinic, Sports Science India, is the first dedicated sports clinic in the region.
His expertise has earned him the trust of many top national and international athletes, including Olympic champions Neeraj Chopra, Ravi Kumar, and Srabani Nanda, as well as the Odisha Ranji Cricket team and Olympian PranatiNayak. Dr. Patnaik has successfully treated over 5,000 arthroscopic procedures, achieving one of the highest success rates for athletes returning to sports.

His global recognition and involvement in major international events, including the Asia Ice Hockey Champions Trophy and the Asia Cup zones in Kuwait, Malaysia, and Kyrgyzstan, further highlight his credentials as one of India’s leading experts in sports medicine.
