Bhubaneswar, Dec 9: A tragic incident occurred in Krushnaprasad village, located in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district, on Sunday night, where a man was killed and his son critically injured during a violent attack.
The deceased, identified as Chaturbhuja Jena, was confronted by a group of individuals, leading to a brutal assault. His 18-year-old son, Om Prakash Jena, suffered multiple injuries while trying to defend his father and was initially taken to a nearby hospital before being transferred to Cuttack for advanced medical treatment.
Sources suggest that the attack stemmed from a long-standing dispute over the establishment of a boiler center on government land. This conflict began approximately six months ago when Chaturbhuja and his son were prevented from setting up the unit by locals from Krushnaprasad and Jhumpudia villages. On the night of the attack, Chaturbhuja learned that his adversaries were attempting to set up their own boiler unit and confronted them, which escalated into a heated argument.
Despite villagers intervening to defuse the situation, the attackers returned later armed with sharp weapons, leading to the tragic outcome. Following the incident, tensions have risen in the area, prompting police from the Bhapur outpost to launch an investigation into the matter.
