Malkangiri Administration Intensifies Tribal Talks and Relief Operations

Malkangiri district administration has stepped up reconciliation efforts in Rakhalguda village, aiming to restore peace and normalcy after recent unrest.

On the sixth day of the ongoing process, Southern RDC Sangram Keshari Mohapatra held detailed discussions with a delegation of tribal intellectuals at the Collector’s office.

The talks, joined by District Collector Somesh Kumar Upadhyay, SP Vinod Patil, and senior officials, focused on key demands raised by tribal representatives.

These included rehabilitation of families displaced during irrigation project construction, distribution of forest land pattas, settlement of government land issues, appointment of language teachers, construction of tribal hostels, and recognition of revenue villages.

Over 30 tribal intellectuals participated, with the RDC describing the dialogue as cordial and constructive, aimed at strengthening brotherhood and peace.

Meanwhile, relief and rehabilitation work continues in MV‑26 village under the direct supervision of the District Collector.

Cooked food and dry rations are being distributed, with special provisions for children aged 3–6 years. Electricity restoration is underway, and security remains tight with BSF, CRPF, RAF, and local police deployed.

The Odisha Red Cross Society has supplied blankets, kitchen sets, utensils, tarpaulins, sarees, lungis, towels, jars, and clothing for affected families.

Internet services across the district remain suspended for another 24 hours as a precautionary measure.

The administration’s dual focus on dialogue and relief underscores its commitment to both immediate recovery and long‑term peace in Malkangiri.
