Majhi Unveils Viksit Odisha 2036: Women, Education, Healthcare at Core

Cuttack, Jan 26: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi unveiled his ambitious vision for Viksit Odisha 2036 during the 77th Republic Day celebrations at Barabati Stadium.

The roadmap aims to position Odisha among India’s top five developed states by 2036, with a strong emphasis on women’s empowerment, education, healthcare, and technology-driven growth.

Majhi highlighted the state’s commitment to inclusive development under the guiding principle of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas.

Key Announcements:

  • Education: Full implementation of NEP 2020, with over 14% of the state budget allocated to education.
  • The CM laid the foundation stone for Godavarish Mishra Adarsh Primary School in Banpur, envisioned as a national model.
  • Healthcare: Integration of Ayushman Bharat – PM Jan Arogya Yojana with Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana, extending coverage to nearly 3.5 crore people. Launch of Ayushman Vaya Vandana Yojana for senior citizens.
  • Women Empowerment: The Subhadra Yojana has already benefited over 1 crore women in just eight months. Nearly 30% of the state budget (Rs 89,862 crore) is dedicated to women-centric initiatives.
  • Odisha also leads in the Lakhpati Didi scheme, boosting women’s economic independence.
  • Safety & Justice: Majhi reiterated a zero-tolerance policy against crimes targeting women.
  • Conviction rates have surged from 6.9% in 2023 to 62% by June 2025, with offenders promised no political protection.

Majhi linked Odisha’s progress to India’s national growth under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, asserting that the state’s development will contribute significantly to India’s rise as a global power.
