Lightning Strike in Nuapada Claims One Life, Leaves Another Critical
Nuapada, — A tragic lightning strike early Thursday morning claimed the life of a farmer and left another critically injured in Dorkamunda village under Boden police station limits.
The victims, Parsuram Satnami (40) and his relative Lobha Satnami (45), were working on their farmland when a sudden thunderstorm forced them to seek shelter under a tree. Unfortunately, lightning struck the tree, severely injuring both men.
Local residents rushed the duo to Khariar Sub-Health Centre, where Parsuram was declared dead on arrival. Lobha, in critical condition, was transferred to Nuapada District Headquarters Hospital for advanced medical care.
Police have confirmed the incident and stated that Parsuram’s body will be handed over to his family following post-mortem procedures.
This incident underscores the dangers of taking shelter under trees during thunderstorms—a common but perilous practice in rural areas.
