Leopard Skin Seized in Nabarangpur, Three Arrested

Forest officials in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district have seized a leopard skin and arrested three individuals in connection with the illegal wildlife trade.

Acting on a tip-off, a special forest team intercepted the suspects near Nunpani village under the Kodinga range.

According to officials, two of the accused were attempting to sell the leopard skin to a buyer, all of whom are residents of Jharigan block.

The skin was reportedly being offered for around ₹5 lakh. Authorities are now investigating the source of the leopard skin to determine whether it is linked to poaching or part of a larger trafficking network.

The arrests highlight ongoing challenges in curbing wildlife crime in Odisha, where enforcement agencies continue to battle against poachers and traders targeting endangered species.

Legal proceedings against the accused are expected to follow once the investigation concludes.
