Keonjhar Police Seize Assets Worth Rs 100 Crore in Crackdown on Cattle Smuggling
Keonjhar: In a sweeping operation against organised cattle smuggling, Keonjhar Police have seized assets valued at over Rs 100 crore across multiple districts in Odisha.
The crackdown, executed with precision and backed by advanced tracking through the government’s NATGRID app, marks one of the largest actions against illegal cattle traders in recent years.
During the raids, police recovered Rs 1.40 crore in cash, 1 kg of gold, 3 kg of silver, 11 four-wheelers, 13 two-wheelers, mobile phones, land documents, and several bank accounts linked to the smuggling network.
The operation spanned 46 locations across Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Jajpur, and Cuttack districts. A massive force comprising 2 Additional SPs, 5 DSPs, 25 Inspectors, 36 SIs/ASIs, and 18 platoons was deployed to ensure success.
Legal proceedings have already begun, with assets seized under Section 107 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
More than 20 cases have been registered against smugglers under organised crime laws, and police are pursuing further court orders to tighten the crackdown.
Keonjhar SP Nitin Kushalkar reaffirmed the department’s commitment, stating that operations will continue until all assets are seized and masterminds are brought to justice.
The move comes a year after smugglers attacked police vehicles, prompting authorities to intensify their fight against organised crime.
This decisive action underscores Odisha Police’s determination to dismantle smuggling networks and safeguard law and order in the region.
