Junagarh Police Seize 44 Stolen Bikes, Arrests Six Operatives of Theft Racket
Junagarh, 20th May: At a time when incidents of motorcycle theft have been causing concern in Kalahandi district, Junagarh Police have achieved a major breakthrough by busting an organised bike theft racket.
Police recovered 44 stolen motorcycles and arrested six accused involved in the operation. Kalahandi Superintendent of Police, Nagaraj Devarakonda, disclosed this during a press conference held at the Junagarh police station premises on Wednesday.
The arrested accused have been identified as Suraj Kaibarta (18), Pawan Kaibarta (23), Akash Kaibarta (19) of Gantayatpada, Junagarh; Alok Barik (19) of Hinjlibahalipada; Chand Naik (21) of Mundaraguda; and Sameer Durga (22) of Nakatiguda, Bhawanipatna.

According to police sources, the investigation intensified after a bike theft case was registered at Junagarh Police Station on May 13. Acting on technical evidence and confidential inputs, police conducted a series of raids and successfully apprehended the gang. During interrogation, police recovered 44 stolen motorcycles from the accused.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the bikes had been stolen from various police station areas, including Junagarh, Dharamgarh, Kokasara, Ampani, and Golamunda, where several theft cases had already been registered.
SP Devarakonda stated that the gang had been active for a long time, stealing motorcycles from different parts of the district and selling them elsewhere. He expressed confidence that the crackdown by Junagarh Police would help curb such crimes in the coming days. He further informed that after completion of legal formalities, the seized motorcycles would be returned to their rightful owners.
Also present at the press conference were Dharamgarh SDPO Varshita Addapu and Junagarh IIC Seshadev Behera.
