Bhubaneswar, May 22, ( OT Webdesk) — In a decisive declaration, India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar reiterated the country’s aggressive stance against terrorism, stating that Indian forces will strike at terrorists wherever they are, including inside Pakistan.
Following the April 22 Pahalgam attack that killed 26 civilians, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting multiple terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
This triggered intense four-day hostilities, with drone and missile exchanges leading up to a ceasefire on May 10.
However, Jaishankar clarified in a recent interview with Dutch broadcaster NOS that the operation isn’t over.
“There is a message in continuing the operation, but it is not the same as firing on each other. The message is clear—and that message is action,” he stated.
India’s response was deemed necessary due to the religiously motivated massacre designed to derail tourism and incite communal tensions.
Additionally, India struck eight Pakistani airbases, disrupting military operations and pushing Pakistan toward de-escalation.
The ceasefire, according to Jaishankar, was directly negotiated without U.S. mediation, despite international concern.
Jaishankar emphasised that India’s engagement with Pakistan will only focus on ending terrorism and reclaiming the occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
They concluded by linking national security to economic progress, stating that both are interconnected.
