(OT Webdesk)A viral video has surfaced showing an Indian student being forcibly restrained by U.S. authorities at Newark Liberty International Airport, sparking outrage and calls for transparency.
The footage, captured by Indian-American entrepreneur Kunal Jain, depicts four officers handcuffing the student, with two kneeling on his back while his hands and legs are bound.
The distressed student can be heard crying out in Hindi, insisting that officials are trying to portray him as mentally unstable: “Main pagal nahi hoon, yeh mujhe pagal bana rahe hain.” Jain, deeply disturbed by the incident, took to social media, labelling it “a human tragedy” and urging intervention from the Indian Embassy.
Following public outcry, the Indian Consulate in New York acknowledged the situation, confirming that they are engaged with local authorities: “The Consulate remains committed to the welfare of Indian nationals.”
While the student’s identity and reasons for deportation remain unclear, the incident has reignited discussions surrounding the treatment of Indian immigrants in the U.S. and the necessity for greater accountability in border control practices.
