New Delhi, May 11, 2025 (OT Webdesk) – Tensions along the India-Pakistan border have reached a critical point following multiple reported ceasefire violations.
In response to the escalating situation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a high-level defence meeting with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and the Chiefs of the three services.
The urgency of this meeting stems from a deadly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 tourists.
Following the attack, India launched “Operation Sindoor” on May 7, targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (Pok).
Pakistan retaliated with drone strikes across multiple Indian border states, including Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. Although intercepted, the drone incursions have heightened concerns regarding a potential full-scale conflict between the two nuclear-armed nations.
Indian defence officials have urged Pakistan to uphold the ceasefire agreement and de-escalate tensions. However, with border residents fearing further hostilities, the path to resolution remains uncertain.
