India Crushes South Africa by 101 Runs in Barabati T20I Opener
Cuttack’s historic Barabati Stadium witnessed a spectacular start to the five-match T20I series as India thrashed South Africa by 101 runs.
Batting first, India posted a competitive 175/6 in 20 overs, with all-rounder Hardik Pandya leading the charge through explosive hitting.
Despite early setbacks with Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav falling cheaply, middle-order contributions from Tilak Varma (26), Akshar Patel (23), and Abhishek Sharma (17) stabilised the innings.
In reply, South Africa crumbled under relentless Indian bowling pressure. Arshdeep Singh struck early, dismissing Quinton de Kock and Tristan Stubbs, while the rest of the attack dismantled the visitors.
South Africa was bowled out for just 74 runs in 12.3 overs, losing half their side by the 50-run mark.
The emphatic victory gave India a 1–0 lead in the series, showcasing a balanced performance with both bat and ball.
The win also highlighted India’s growing depth in T20 cricket, with young players stepping up alongside seasoned stars.
