India Clinch T20I Series 2–1 as Rain Washes Out Brisbane Finale

Brisbane, Nov 9: India secured a 2–1 victory in the five-match T20I series against Australia after the final match at Brisbane was abandoned due to persistent rain and thunderstorms.

The match was called off after just 4.5 overs of play, denying both teams a chance to alter the series outcome.

India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, had already taken an unassailable lead by winning the third and fourth matches, bouncing back after losing the second game. The first match had also been rain-affected.

During the brief play in Brisbane, opener Abhishek Sharma reached a personal milestone of 1,000 T20I runs and was later named Player of the Series for his explosive 163-run tally.

His opening partner, Shubman Gill, smashed 29 runs off just 16 balls before the match was halted.

With this series win, India avenged their 1–2 loss in the ODI series earlier in the tour and ended their Australian campaign on a high.

Looking ahead, India will host South Africa for a multi-format series comprising two Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is.

The Test matches will be played in Kolkata and Guwahati, with the latter hosting its first-ever red-ball international.

The T20Is will be spread across Cuttack, Chandigarh, Dharamshala, Lucknow, and Ahmedabad—crucial preparation ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup.
