Bhubaneswar, May 14, 2025 (OT Webdesk) – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has dismissed ongoing media reports suggesting the formation of Cyclone ‘Shakti’ over the Bay of Bengal. Speculation had been rising over the past few days, fueling concerns among coastal residents in Odisha, West Bengal, and Bangladesh.
IMD officials clarified that while a low-pressure system may develop in the region between May 23 and May 28, there is no confirmation regarding its intensification into a cyclone. If it does strengthen, the system could impact coastal areas between May 24 and May 26.
