Heavy rainfall in Odisha

IMD Issues Yellow Warning for Southern and Coastal Odisha Amid Rain Forecast

Bhubaneswar, October 23, 2025 — The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for southern and coastal Odisha, forecasting moderate rainfall across 11 districts.

The alert stems from a well-marked low-pressure area currently positioned over south Andhra Pradesh and north Tamil Nadu, which is expected to weaken gradually.

Earlier this month, Odisha experienced two low-pressure systems, though their impact was minimal. However, meteorologists anticipate a fresh system forming around October 26, with potential intensification into a cyclonic circulation by October 27. A third system may emerge around October 29, though its strength and trajectory remain uncertain.

Residents in the affected regions are advised to stay updated with local weather bulletins and exercise caution, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas.

The IMD continues to monitor developments closely and will provide updates as the systems evolve.
